Area Tech Lead

I'm an area tech lead on Google Maps, where I've been working for 15 years. Originally from Australia, I now work out of Tokyo. My teams and I work on reviews, photos, and user-generated content on Maps.

I led the Google Maps experiment review community. I advised PMs and core teams across Maps on how to build, run, and understand experiments. For a few years, I was often the only person who could predict or explain how implementations and data flow would impact results.

I led efforts for our 100-person org to coordinate our engineering design, playing the connector role across teams. I created and led design forums, drawing on what I'd seen across the org to help teams work together better.

This paper came out of my honors research. I wrote it up, and it was published in 2011.

The work was on ways to improve decision tree learning using knowledge or inference of order between attributes.
